Hi,

When I scheduled my Crystal Report to run from infoView, I got the following error:
Failed to open the connection. D:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\Data\procSched\XXXX.reportjobserver\~tmp7f8681d879ab50.rpt

I set the destination to Email, also tried Inbox, but got the same error. My administrator told me that he has already configured the SMTP server settings. Then what the problem that could be?
Thank you for any helps and suggestions!!!

It sounds like more of a problem with data connectivity than with any destination. If you can, try to run the report within Crystal on the actual server - that will ensure that the dsn is configured correctly. Then make sure that the password is stored for the report within the report properties in the CMC.

The dsn's on the server have to be identical to the ones on the workstation used to create the report.

briangriffin,

Thank you so much for your respond!!!
My report has no password stored in it. When I scheduled report to run from InfoView, in the Database Logon part, I checked "Use Integrated Security" which is what I use for all my reports running locally. Do you think that could be the problem?

And I am not sure if I can run my reports on actual server.

Probably. Keep in mind that integrated security on your workstation means your Windows account, but on the server it's the account that the job server is using.

In the CCM you can look at the properties of the job server, specifically the account - if it says Local System Account you would need to change it to a domain account that has rights to access your data source. Typically you would create a domain account just for this purpose, such as 'boe_reports' (and if possible have your AD administrator check 'password never expires' for that account).

Alternatively, you could uncheck integrated security for the report and enter domain credentials with database rights. You might try it this way first using your own credentials just to see if that solves the problem.

briangriffin,

Thanks again!!
I only can access CMC and InfoView. And I only can check "Use Integrated Security" since I use "Trusted connection" when I work on my reports locally. I have explained that to my DBA and CE Administrator.
Is there anything that I can do from my side?

No, but you might mention to them that the job server would need to run under a domain account if you ever want to schedule a report to an external location, such as a network drive. The account the server uses has to have rights to that directory.

Hi briangriffin,

They gave me a account to use and I set the destination to "Default Inbox", then got different error:

Error in File D:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise11.\Data\procSched\xxxx.reportjobserver\~tmp11a0681f0bbaf06.rpt: Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters.

Does that mean that account don't have access to the server?
I can use that account to connect to DB when I run the report locally.

Take a look at the properties of the report and make sure the username and password of the new account are stored. That message almost always means there is a problem there.

I would suggest scheduling to default Enterprise location for now to take any location configuration problems out of the mix.

I checked both CMC and InfoView at the properties of the report, but didn't see the username and password.
These are what in properties (CMC and InfoView)--

And I scheduled to default enterprise loaction, but still got that error.Any idea?
Thank you so much for all your help!!!

I don't have XI R2 in front of me, but as I recall in the properties of the report in the CMC there is a tab titled Process, and under that is a link titled Database. That is where you enter the credentials that you want the report to use.

briangriffin,

Thank you!!!
I found it. It is under process --> database. The new account is stored there. But I still got that error. I think that new account does not work for CE. I need talk to my CE Admin...
