Can anyone tell me how ofter Google updates it's pagerank and backlinks - is there a site when I can find out how often and when the next one is?

Google is always updating PageRank, just not visually to us outside of the GooglePlex. (This was stated by Matt C. at the last WebmasterWorld conference in New Orleans and probably the one before that in Vegas)

Updates to the Toolbar are said to be roughly Quarterly. Just depends when they flip the switch.

I would assume it would be similar with Backlinks.
