Google - Oops! This link appears to be broken

I have been trying to figure out what is going on with the folks who are getting this error from Google. I have searched all over the internet (using Google naturally) and I see alot of discussions but I'll be darned if I see any that actually say why this is occurring. And I don't mean DA! the DNS Server couldn't find the web page!! I mean has something changed that all these people are seeing this somewhat new error message. Is the Google Toolbar to blame? Is Google to blame? And they claim the page exists and they have favorites that used to work etc. I'd really like a technical explanation if one exists.

It probably has something to do with IE8 as linney mentioned. I know I had issues with gmail and IE8 in Vista. Try using the "compatibility mode" button as shown here:
