I have a client who would quite like to see Google adsense ads, but is unable to do so. I have checked:

1. Javascript OK
2. Hosts file disabled
3. A-V seems OK (AVG and ewido)

Anything else I should look for?

And check they aren't running behind a proxy that "auto removes" them.

What browser do they use (assuming it's IE)? Try a test using Firefox (vanilla install) and see if the ads show... if so then it's a problem local to the IE installation (rather than a proxy or firewall service).

Maybe the have Norton *something-or-other* installed? Can't remember it's name, but it's a proxy that runs on the local computer and "protects" when surfing web pages. It also injects javascript code into every page.

Just some thoughts [smile]

Cheers,
Jeff

What is Javascript? faq216-6094

Thanks for the ideas guys. I will be back to the site tomorrow and will check the ideas out. It doesn't appear to be a browser specific problem, as it affects IE6, Moz and FF. They only appear to be running AVG and Ewido, so Norton shouldn't be the problem. Javascript from other sites runs OK. I haven't yet checked for Spybot

My first thought was Hosts, but I've temporarily renamed it and rebooted, but no change. There is no proxy involved that I can see, this is a small local branch with a straight ADSL feed.

Any other thoughts are still welcome!

Thanks for all your input.

Situation at present is:
Tried Adsense site: only extra suggestion was possible XP SP2 firewall problems - disabled firewall, rebooted, problem still there. (Re-enabled firewall)
Temporarily disabled Ewido, AVG and SpyBot
Renamed Hosts
Checked for no proxy
Javascript enabled (and working on other sites)
No software firewall installed

This must be something silly, Google makes it's living from these ads. WHAT AM I MISSING?
