We have a Legend system with CKE4 and Version 7 Release 10 and would like to get a couple of good wireless headsets. What are the recommendations and any to stay away from? The headsets would hook up to MLX10 and MLX10DP phones so I am sure I need some sort of adapter. Also how do you program these phones for redial?

Greg

For redial you will need to use a button. Go into programing at the extension. Press the button you want to make Redial and scroll until you see last#.

Rather than use a wireless headset that connects to the handset jack on the phone, and has the rube goldberg contraption to lift the handset off the hook, use a Plantronics wireless heaset that is actually a single-line cordless phone. Connect it to a Tip/Ring port if you have them, or get MFM's for your MLX sets. Program the Headset Extension to have a Primary Coverage "button" for the MLX telephone, and you can answer the incoming calls on it.

You also have the option of regressing to an ATL ("classic") phone if you have any ATL ports on your system. The older phones have better headset support via a dedicated headset adapter. But your user would probably miss the MLX display....

TTT's suggestion is probably best if you can dig up the T/R port.

Thanks for the quick responses. I like the idea of the MFM on the MLX set and I know Plantronics makes some good products. So what do I need to get them working and what models of Plantronics are known to work well with the Legend system. Can I program the redial button using WinSPM version 7?.

If you go with the standalone cordless set plugged into a T/R port, the "phone" will have its own dial pad and most likely its own redial button. There should be no compatibility issues with Legend - except that if you are worried about a Message Waiting indicator on the cordless set, which you probably are not.

I can do the T/R port for one of them but I do not have any extra rj45 jacks at two locations that I want to use the cordless headsets at, those have mlx10dp. It would be a royal pain to run new wires to them. So the MFM sounds like the way to go with the headsets pluged into them.

Yes in winsmp you want to do cntr-prog something like that and enter the ext. select the line button you want and then select last#

Remember that if you have a 4 pair wire run to those RJ-45s, your MLX phone is only using 2 of the pairs (3 if it has a DSS or MFM). So you may already have a spare pair to add the additional jack.

A word of caution about MFM's - They can not do a switch hook flash, thus, no transfer or conference.

merlinman is correct. We had the same issue with a customer and started out with the MFM's. We ended up putting the plantronic headsets on analog ports for the customer.
