Can you folks recommend a good, basic SQL book. A step above the "for dummies" type.

Thanks!

Hi there,
"Joe Celko's SQL for Smarties: Advanced SQL Programming" sticks pretty close to ANSI, and is very popular.

If you are working with MS-SQL Server then

"The Guru's Guide to T-SQL" by Ken Henderson is excellent.
Also
" SQL Server 2000 Programming by Example by Fernando G. Guerrero", and
"Advanced Transact-SQL for SQL Server 2000" by Itzik Ben-Gan, and
"SQL Server 2000 Design & T-SQL Programming" by Michelle Poolet

If you are working with Oracle, then other folks may suggest some good books.

Thanks BP. I'm currently working only in Access. However, I am studying on my own to learn SQL then on to Oracle and SQL Server. I've got a few good books on PL/SQL (for Oracle) but am looking for straight SQL to become well versed in it.

Celko's SQL for Smarties isn't a very good beginner's book. It is pretty advanced. Try "Teach Yourself SQL in 21 Days" from QUE. It is online and free.
