What are you guys successful using for SIP softphones on smartphones (specifically iphone) for IP office? (needs to work outside of the internal local network that the IP office resides on.) I have a customer that would like to try some out, I have tried 3CXPhone, Media5-fone, (free in the app store). Has anyone done the counter path Bria softphone? It's 7.99, plus you need to fork out for the G.729 codec. Is it worth it? (Why can't Avaya have their own certified SIP softphone for the Iphone and Ip Office, I see that Avaya's makes one for Aura, wish it worked on ip office though.)
The customer has iphone users that are racking up huge toll costs and they would like to mitigate this by using a sip softphone while the users are on wifi in the hotel and possible over 3G, etc... I'm thinking the simplest way is to put a public IP for the WAN port on the IP office and use a good reliable SIP softphone for iphone, any thoughts?
