Hello all,

Could one of you sharp cookies out there recommend good software for on-access samba file share anti virus scanning?

We are (that means me boss yes?) going to be setting up a Suse Linux Ent 9 server with Samba 3.0 and I need an anti-virus solution. Been looking at the Bit-Defender program but really just picked this one at random, anyone out there with any mileage on this?

Also looking for a good program to back up said single file server -- been looking at Storix and Arkeia, called Arkeia in France looking for info but they didn't get back to me, that one may well be off the list.

Any advice much appreciated.

One of the most common mentioned here is ClamAV ( I've not used it but it seems to be popular. There is another one but I can't remember the name.

Do you have a tape drive attached to the server? If so you can script up a backup solution quite easily. Bacula is a GPL backup program.
