My company has only recently started to use BO. We've got to the point where we are trying to compile a good practice guide.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could go in it. What works for you? Even better, has anyone already created such a guide?

I'll try to put a version out in the FAQ area when it's finished.

Hi
There is are a few guides I've obtained: one is called Global Deployment Strategies for Business Objects 2000. It covers:
❑ Overview of Sample Business Objects Environment
❑ Architecture and Repository Deployment Scenarios
Scenario 1: Centralized architecture
Scenario 2: Decentralized architecture - centralized security domain
Scenario 3: Decentralized architecture - reproduced security domain
Global deployment scenario matrix
❑ Capacity Planning for a Business Objects System
How many servers do you need?
Estimated number of servers - Windows
Estimated number of servers - UNIX: Sun Solaris
❑ Business Objects Cluster Design for Failover
Implementing failover
Broadcast Agent deployment
❑ Performance Factors
The database or data warehouse
The Business Objects repository database
The server hardware
The network
Number of users
Type, size, and number of documents
❑ Distribution of Server Components
❑ Security and Auditing
❑ Parameters for Capacity Planning

is that the sort of thing you are looking for?

Hi Maiden,

Thanks for the post, but I was after more of a guide to creating useable reports. Things such as adding the author's name, the refresh date, providing descriptions of what the data means, the values of prompts, that sort of thing.
