does anyone know where I can get a good PHP text editor for RedHat Linux 7.2 that is free or has a trial version. I have Allaire's HomeSite but it is for windows. I would greatly appreciate any websites that you may know of.

There are plenty of good editors:

1. Kwrite, which is the advanced editor that comes with KDE. Just tell it to pretend that PHP files are Perl files and the syntax highlighting is fairly good.

2. Bluefish, which is a standard RPM available. It is also an excellent HTML editor, having many cut-n-paste HTML widgets.

3. KPHPDevelop, at is more than a text editor; it is an IDE for PHP. Also aimed at the KDE desktop environment.

4. PHPMole is an IDE for PHP which was actually written in PHP (Can it get any better than that?), using the PHP-GTK extension. See
I'm sure there are more, but this ought to get you started. Enjoy! -------------------------------------------

Thank you guys very much. That was very helpful I appreciate what you guys have done.

Hi

I use VIM (Vi IMproved). It got syntax highlightning, auto indenting and ...well almost anything. It's a console program (no fancy menues, but menues are for resturants :), and it take some practise to learned. But once learned, you never want to use anything else.

Here's another vote for vim. It's worth the time investment to learn because once you do, not only do you not want to use anything else, you rarely need to...VIM's available for just about any platform you can think of, and if you can use vim, you can handle vi which is on just about every Unix system there is. :) Matt
