I'm trying to record in some vcr tapes to put onto dvd, I've got all the hardware and all the dvd writing software, I just do not have any good capturing software.

WinProducer 2 came with my vivo video card, but any horizontal panning results in a very visible diaganal line in the recorded video, and I cannot adjust any bit-rate settings, like I'm going to recompress the video to make it the size I want, so I want to initially record using a very high bit-rate.

ATI's MMC 7.1 doesn't check for ati hardware (I used to have a tv wonder ve but do not have it in anymore) so I've been using that, the advantage here is I can adjust the bit-rate to set it very high, but I've got concerns this software is not giving me the best video quality that's possible, I'm limited to initial mpeg-1 compression (it does do mpeg-2 compression, but the output is total crap even when using ati's tv wonder hardware), and the sound is unadjustable; I need to record at 48000KHz, the software is limited to 44100KHz so it's several extra steps to get the audio converted.

Is there any other capture software out there that doesn't suck?

Thanks.
