Can you well informed gentlemen (and ladies) recomend a few good books on server 2000 and 2003 so I can properly utilize/manage this network I so (un)luckily inherited??
The best books imo are the windows 2000 administrators companion and the windows 2003 administrators companion. Also mastering windows server 2000 and mastering windows server 2003 are excelent. I would most likely get 2 books one from the mastering seris and one from the administrators companion seris. Check out
yes I agreed ! they are excellent books if you want indepth knowledge and you do not need to be an expert to start reading his book, the only down side I see the master series is they are time comsuming to read, this would good if you have some time on your side (i.e if you know a few months ago that you going to be doing this)
the best way to manage the network for your case I think is to start doing hands-on, when you see an issue or something you dont know how, list some specific question and post them here or search o n Microsoft's web site,
xmario2004 I agree with you the books are pretty big. I think that if you need to do something quick you should use the ms site or post here than go to the mastering book and read over what you just did. It will help you understand more and also it will help you improve whatever you just set up.
