Good Audio Killing Good Video!!!!

When I change my project settings to good or best audio conversion (which REALLY helps the sound quality) my video starts skipping more than a schoolgirl during recess. Anyone have this problem before? It's like I can only choose one or the other. Smooth Video or HQ audio...and frankly I need both.
