goldminetempcopytable error-matching fields does not fix it

I'm using GM Premium 8.5.1.12, trying to add new fields to GM. I've been told proper procedure for this version is to add the fields in GM and then rebuild, but i can't rebuild because I keep getting the error: failed to copy records from CONTACT2 to goldminetempcopytable. I tried adding the fields via SQL as in older versions but I corrupted the database and I don't want that to happen again, so I'm trying to do this the right way. I know this error usually means the fields in CONTACT2 don't match the CONTUDEF table, but I have carefully compared the two tables and my fields match exactly, including type and length, EXCEPT that I have a recid field in the CONTACT2 table that i do not see in CONTUDEF. i can't add this field to CONTUDEF (since adding it would require that I enter a unique recid for it) and i obviously cannot delete it from CONTACT2, so i assume this is normal, the field is not supposed to be present in CONTUDEF?? In any case, I can't rebuild and therefore cannot add these fields to the database, which I desperately need to be able to do. Does anyone have any suggestions to correct the error? I perform sql maintenance regularly. Thanks.
