Has anyone tried using Goldmine through a VPN??? Currently we are using ACT and it's too large to share through a VPN connection (and ACT doesn't support their program through a VPN).

Thanks

Hi there,

I have a few clients that are doing it. Their databases are small and there are not alot of users. I am not very impressed with performance. And I am assuming that you are not using any type of publishing service.

You will have better luck thru something like Citrix metaframe (a publishing service)or using GoldMine's Everywhere server.

You do realize in order to get any kind of decent performance that you ought to go to the SQL version

good luck

We have clients that are doing this using the SQL version.
Don't even try to use GoldMine Standard (dBase) over a VPN.

The problem is that you can't legislate for the bandwidth available to you, so the performance can be variable.

If you are going to go with this then you should install the files locally that point back to the SQL database. You have to be sure to poke a hole through the firewall to allow MSSQL transmissions.
