Has anyone ever dealt with this? We had a site go into ESS last night that didn't come back on its own so the tech issued a forced-takeover ALL command, rather than just for the needed IPSIs.

A few hours later the golden IPSI generated a license error and a major alarm because the system can't see the serial #.

The only suggestion Avaya had to offer was a busy/release or reset of that IPSI, the golden IPSI.

Any feedback or concerns over this?

I would reboot the entire switch, once you go into "license failure" you will not be able to make ANY changes to that switch, within a short time (less than 30 days)

I'm afraid that would be an ultimate last resort. We're 24/7 and this isn't something we can easily do.
Do you feel the busy reset then release will resolve this?

you should check to make sure the IPSI serial # matches the IPSI that is licensed. THe SN of the licnese can easily be checked in the "maint web browser", by clicking on the "licnese" link. This is the SN the system is licensed to. now you will need to use the "ipsession" command to enable SSH on the IPSI so you can SSH to it, and check it's serial #

ipsession details:
after the "ipsisession" command is given, and you have the temporary password, youmust SSH to the IPSI's IP address. one thing to note is, make sure you put "init@" in the command, example: "ssh init@1.2.3.4", the password issued only works if you specify the "init@" in the SSH command.

from that point you would then issue an "ipsilogin", default pw is "craft01" I believe, then one of the "show" commands should get you the IPSI's Serial Number.
