I just passed the SCJP yesterday, and am thinking about trying to pass the SCJD next... any tips?

I've only got about a year's programming experience (6 of them in Java), and no formal CS studies. I used Mughal & Rasmussen's A Programmer's guide to Java Certification.

I wonder if I have enough experience, and what books/resources to use to get this next stage of certification. Any help is appreciated!

Just go for it. SCJD is all about the learning experience. You may not feel ready to tackle it currently but since the Sun gives you an unlimited amount of time to complete the assignment then I see no reason to put it off.

There has been alot said about this certification but I am not going to repeat it here. Hop over to Javaranch and check out the Developer Certification forum. That should give you enough information to get started. Also, everyone at Javaranch is real friendly-like to newbies so don't feel shy about posting. Here is the link to the forum:
Have fun and good luck.
