Going From Linux to Win98 any Suggestion

I am taking a computer form Linux Red Hat back to Win98 but am having a tough time reformatting the hard drive, any suggestions

what kind of problem are you having formattting?<br>
If you don't care anything for the data on the drive, simply fdisk the drive, which will destroy the partition. Then make an MS-DOS partition. I think this works best if you have a windows98 bootdisk. The Windows 98 boot disk has the latest drivers and tools for this. If you do not have a Windows 98 bootdisk, goto

The problem seems to be that the hard drive is partitioned into two parts. Fdisk will only recognizes the first part of the drive which is only 23 megs. But will not do anything to the second partition and format only recognized the 23 megs also.

what version of fdisk are you using?<br>
FDISK may be recognizing the parition as a NON-DOS partition. This will have to be removed, something newer versions of FDISK will do. You might also want to try Partition Magic from Powerquest, which will see the drive and allow you to destroy any and all partitions on the drive.

use the fdisk program that came on your RedHat install setup.....just delete all partitions from there; then go through your Win98 fdisk to write your new partition table.<br>
