I have designed this site ( which has been pretty easy aside from constant changes. My problem now lies that I have been asked to make the photos fade away after they have been viewed. My problem is that on mouse "pass out" (sorry my flash is italian, i don't know what this is in english), the fade out mc activates even if the button has not been clicked. I tried an invisible off button and this still didn't work. I need help!

the fla is at (
thanks in advance.

Hi there -
Well - I don't have an exact answer for you - but I did do something similar that might point you in the right direction -
I created a button that on mousedown got very big while flying toward the visitor and fading to nothing.
In the "up" keyframe I placed a static image.
In the "over" keyframe I put the same image but a little larger & a different color.
In the "down" keyframe, I put a movie clip like yours, except that I put a stop action in the first, blank frame of the clip (instead of at the end), and the rest of the clip is a motion-tweened series of the image, increasing the size and decreasing the alpha.
What I don't know how to do is make the first part of the button disappear... I'm sure there's a way! :)

Thanks Marianne. Actually, I figured it out last night. This is what I did:

I have still of each photo with a stop action, following by a tween of that photo for 14 frames with a stop action at the end. I scripted the buttons to go to frame x on mouse down. BUT because I could not do the go to the next frame (the tweened sequence) on mouse over or out because this would activate the tween even if the button had not been pressed, I added a level with an off button and that off button ONLY appears on the frame with the still, therefore the tween can only be activated if the still is showing. Does this make sense.

It looks something like this:

action s| s| p | s| s|p |
photo | • | • | •>----------------> • | • | •>----------------> •|
off | • | | • |
buttons | •

So as you can see, if the off buttons are scripted go to the next keyframe on rollout then the problem is resolved.

I hope this might help others with the same problem.

Best,

Hi there -
Just came back here - I've been up to my ears! I guess I missed out on seeing the .fla - when I click on the link I get an error page...
I'm glad you figured something out! Usually after I post here I figure things out too... something about just feeling like I'm not the only one thinking about the problem helps a lot! :)
ciao bella -
