I send out to various people PDF made from Excel and Pagemaker 7.0. They read perfectly on my computer with Acrobat Reader but some customers just seem to get a screen loads of various characters.
On my computer when I send it to myself it is OK if "Display attachment Inline" is off. I do not know what other computers are having. Is this the problem and should I tell recipients to make sure "Display attachment Inline" is off.

...are the fonts actually being embedded in the PDF files?

...you can tell from within acrobat with a PDF open, choosing file > document properties and selecting the "fonts" tab, each font used in the PDF is listed and it should say "(embedded subset)" in brackets after each and every font...

...is it doesn't, that means that acrobat has to find them on the systems computer font system locations, so as you have the fonts it will look fine, but to another user on a different computer display issues can occur...
