This is a reasonable and safe test of your AV software. It is the starting point for many published AV comparative tests, but see how well your machine does.

Very worthwhile:

Nice one BCastner,

I occasionally send myself virus's but this was quite interesting.

My file filtering removed the attachments the .com etc I am getting more and more tempted to add .zip to that list but I know the political issues it will cause. And the old AV got the rest. Which scares the hell out of me cause if its catching everything today it means some one is developing something completely new :(

Cheers,

Iain

Norton 2003 didn't do too well.

My ISP caught 3 (that they notified me of), Norton caught 2, six made it to my inbox - what happened to the rest?

Whoops!!

Correction, - only five made it to the inbox, and Norton cleaned two of them. The ISP did clean up three though.

23 blocked server side, 1 went to bad mail, 1 blocked my Outlook's unsafe attachments.

My ISP blocked 10 of them and let the others through. :-( I'm going to notify them this morning.
