I stumbled on this Microsoft free self-testing analysis of your Windows XP knowledge.

Go ahead, test yourself.

Now I will warn you that the test results may frustrate you. I took the first test twice. I finished the first trial in 16 minutes with a score of 26/30. Frustrated, I took it again in 18 minutes and scored 13/30.

As the exam site allow you to register, and publicly reveal your scores, I offer one of my prized possessions: a Microsoft coffee mug to anyone who lists here a perfect 30 score in one test attempt before May 11, 2004.

As there are several possible tests to take, my prize offer is only for: "Introduction to End-User Support for Microsoft® Windows® XP" self assesment. It is the only test I have dared take to date.

Thank god I don't do this for a living ;) 14 and 20 out of 30..

As I said, my second trial was 13/30. The poor users at "Conseco Corporation" or whatever the fictional corporation used for the questions likely fired me.

Well, since I don't use Outlook Express and have never seen Exchange server, I figure 22/30 on the first try isn't too bad... I think I'll just leave it at that for now.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

Anything greater than my dreadfull 13/30 earns from me a quiet round of applause.

You did well, tviman. A quiet round of applause for you.

lol.. 18/30, I likely was fired also.

funny thing is I scored above the average on all subjects except upgrading to XP.

the average score for each section is 40% +/- 5%
high score 83.3

those questions were pretty rough

I want to see linney's score.

Well, I'm not getting Bill's coffee mug

I could not get "Bill's coffe mug."
Hey, wait..

I wish they would show you why your screwed up the answer.

It won't be me either. 63% (19/30) in 25 minutes.

John

John,

I view that as an excellent score. Quiet round of applause for jbarnett.

Hi Bill,
I'm probably being really stupid but I cannot see anywhere to login or create a login. Also the High Score list I see, the highest score I see is 60%.

Any Ideas?

Greg,

Your right I bypassed the registration requirement with my original link.

Revised:
Click "Register to take an assesment"

Apologies,
Bill Castner

p.s. so how did you do as an anonymous test?

Trouble is, I'm working towards my MCP in XP Pro at the moment as part of my MCSA and have 1 XP Home + 1 XP Pro machine easily available for tinkering and trying things out. 63% is nowhere near enough to pass.

John

John,

This test is much rougher than the MCSE client test for XP. I do not know it it was clear enough on the site, but print out the self-assesment study guide resources it will offer.

May I just say No Comment.

I need to quit my job and go back to school...

I'm with cranebill. No Comment. I'd just like to add that it gave me flash-backs of the SAT's. I'll be grabbing a smoke behind the gym if anybody needs me.

Bill,
You trying to find ways of embarassing us? Well, you found a great one! All kidding aside, I think everyone who has taken this one was like my comment on some of the questions, WHAT???????? Fun thing to play with though...

By the way, I just quit my job, as my daily duties of working with XP just didn't measure up with this test....

tfg13,

You will find myself, mpnut, cranebill behind the gym, with a case of beer.

I have zero idea how one can get a perfect score on this exam.
