Hi!

We are running:

Windows 2000 Server SP3
ARCserve 2000 SP4
Client Agent SP4

We are haveing problems with gmgr0.dat and gmgr1.dat witch give ous an error message when backing up the system state. The files where probably installed with SP3 and Automatic Updates.

Any ides how we can exclude the files from system state?

How we can backup the files in a proper way? Any services to stop to release the files?

Thanks in advance

Thomas

I'm having the same problem, but the files are Qmgr0.dat and Qmgr1.dat. The Q does look like a g when viewed in lower case.

Hi Thomas,

I have same problem. How did you resolve it?

Thank you.

Hi Guys...

!!!! Qmgr*.dat !!!!

Mostly, these files are locked by the BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) service and cannot be copied
by the programs.

It seems that the backup program cannot copy the files, either. BITS is a component of the Microsoft Software Update Services ( MSUS).

This servicehas been updated and included with SP1.

Generally, we can just skip them when this issue occurs.
If you cannot backup files due to these two files, you may
disable BITS service by running services.msc and then re-enable the service after backing up files.

or even better you can use the pre\post option on the client agent admin and use a batch file to stop this service prior to backup and start it after the backup.

hope this helps

Good morning:

Would skipping these files during backup solve the problem?

Thanks,
