Has anyone been successful in getting GM email center to retrieve emails from GMail?

I have setup Gmail's POP access and can access it via my Palm's email app but can't get GM to do it.

YES! GMail requires SSL, though. Unfortunately, GoldMine doesn't natively support SSL. I got a couple of GMail accounts recently and found a way to accomplish this. I've been using it for weeks now and it's relatively painless:

To enable me to use the account(s) with GoldMine, I downloaded Stunnel from this link on this page:

I found I also needed
and
also available on the same main download page there (scroll to bottom or use those direct links ^^)

I downloaded all three items to a local folder I called c:\stunnel\ and created a text file in the folder and named it stunnel.conf. I put the following into this file:

client=yes
[pop3]
accept=9995
connect=pop.gmail.com:995
[smtp]
accept=225
connect=smtp.gmail.com:25

And then ran Stunnel.

I then added my Gmail address to GoldMine like I would any other e-mail address other than the fact that both the SMTP and POP3 servers are 127.0.0.1 and I had to go into the advanced area and modify the ports used by both pop3 and smtp to match what I defined in my stunnel.conf file (pop3=9995 and smtp=225).

Finally, I had to go the gmail account on the gmail web page and go to my settings area and enable pop3 access. I found that enabling it for 'all messages than come in from now on' was the best option.

Thanks Doug! I just set that up and it seems to work quite well.

What is the best way to get stunnel to run at windows startup? Put a shortcut to stunnel-4.07.exe in the startup folder or is there a better way?

Nope, that's about all you'll need to do. :) You could put it in the run key in the registry under hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run\ if you wanted to make sure it ran for all users of the machine, but startup is just as good of a spot. I like stunnel since it's open source, free, not a resource hog, etc. etc. It does what it does and nothing more.

Not knowing much more about SSL, I'm sure having that little SSL tunnel available to you could be useful for stuff other than just grabbing your Gmail too... Not sure what.. but.. ;)
