A neighbor has an email account from her job, which recently began using Gmail Hosted. She wants to use Outlook to POP her mail at home instead of using the webmail interface. Anybody got a clue as to what the POP and SMTP server names should look like? Ordinarily, it would be POP.GMAIL.COM and SMTP.GMAIL.COM but the domain of her job (let's call it WORK.COM) is throwing me.

Hi IB63640

Yes, those server names are correct.

However, what you have to know is Gmail uses non-standard ports for POP and SMTP and requires an SSL-secured connection. The POP3 port is 995 and the SMTP is 465. Those have to be set on the more settings/advanced tab of Internet Email Settings.

This also means those ports have to be allowed thru firewalls, routers, etc.

I haven't done this for a gmail hosted domain, but I would expect that would change the logon information (username@work.com instead of username@gmail.com), though I am just guessing there.
