Hello,

Does anyone have Goldmine running successfully on a Windows 2003 server (more specifically even, a 2003 Small Business Server) environment?

Before we make the final purchase, we wanted to double check to see if the product will actually run on Windows 2003 Server. I've had numerous issues with 2003 at other clients - but were able to get them resolved over time.

Long story short, does Goldmine run on Win2K3 Server?

Thanks,
Mike

I should add, this is a dbase installation - not sql server.

Hi,

2003 is fine. We're running 2003 with SQL here but have test systems in dBase (for our customers) on the same box and haven't encountered any issues.

Regards,

Richard.

I did this with sbs 2003 and goldmine 6.0 and my server crased none of my MMC would work so i had to build a whole new sever. I currently have goldmine running from an XP machine with no problem and a mapped drive to all of our company's computers

in short Test it you self i will stick with XP.

BigJohn, thanks. We still haven't made the transition due to cash flow issues. With this slack time, I've actually been thinking of XP instead of server. Having only 6 users in the whole office, I'm not sure why the IT guy before me wanted to put in a whole DC anyway. These guys intend to remain small.

It would simplify things for sure.

Thanks for the input. I'll take that into consideration.

forget XP. It's not a server OS. It's your Granny's OS with all the prompts as to 'what to do now that you've inerted a CD?' and that helpful little DOG. I repeat, it's not a SERVER operating system.

I have a number of clients, dBase and SQL using 2003 (SBS and not SBS) for their GoldMine (and even ACCPAC CRM) needs and have only encountered minor problems (one term server based install has problems with 2003's term server clipboard mapper but it's a windows issue in general, not just with GoldMine)

Honestly, I'd suggest picking up win2k server and going with the tried and true solution.
