global vs local domain groups

whats the difference between creating a group as local domain and global. I did some reading on it but im still confused. when would you use which? what the advantage of one over the other?

A Global group in a domain is visible in other active directory domains...

A domain local group is only visible in the domain it is a member of...

In a global group, you can't put a global group of another domain. In a Domain Local Group, you can put groups (or users) from another domain.
