At work we use a Sonic Wall 330 Pro.

I have downloaded the Global VPN software and the config file. The VPN connects however it will not assign me an IP address. I'm running DSL through a Microsoft router with ports 500, 68, 1723 forwarded thourgh TCP to my local IP.

Any ideas why?

Thanks

In your DSL do you have a public ip address, or is it a private IP address(10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x) and then it is NAT:ted or PAT:ted into ISP's public IP-address, like hundreds of other customers? Because Sonic Wall doesn't support "IP NAT traversal" aka "IPSec packets are encapsulated within normal UDP packets. UDP encapsulation allows the VPN connection to traverse NAT routers that might otherwise present a problem because IPSec support is lacking".
. Solution is to obtain a public and fixed IP-address for your PC/network or to purchase a FW/VPN gateway that supports "IP NAT traversal".
