I'm trying to distill a PDF--using Adobe Acrobat Distiller 4--from withing PageMaker 6.52 (on a G3 Macintosh PowerBook running OS 9.1, but I created the file on a G3 box running OS 8.6 with exactly same software and fonts). I've used a single font family--that I know of--Times New Roman in this whole book I've laid out, one chapter per file.

WHen I go to Export--->Adobe PDF and make my selections, name the file, and hit "Export", I get an Alert box with a message about a problem, a missing font, and to see error file Distiller made after it flushed the attempt to make a PDF. That file, in SImpleText, says Helvetica's missing.

Well, first I made sure my font suitcase for this job included the Helvetica family. Still didn't work.

So is there a utility or something within PageMaker 6.52 (like Quark's Usage function) that shows what fonts are used and allows you to globally change fonts?

Thanks.

Hi,

under the menu 'utilities' > Plug-ins> pub info you get a report of the fonts used in your publication.

hope this helps

You might want to try making sure that your font locations are setup correctly in Distiller.

1.Open up Distiller.
2.Go to Settings, Font Locations.
3.Make sure none of the folders have and x in them. Remove your Macintosh HD:System Folder Fonts, and then readd the folder.

I hope this works, it has in the past.
