global MC Buttons

ok I am making a portfolio for myself I made a menu with buttons and this is one mc now I made another mc as one of the targets of a button from the menu now wen I put the menu and the targeted mc on the main scene the link does now work and I tried with labeled anchored frames too please help I think I am missing some kind of global command somewhere?

If you were targeting the main timeline, the best method, would be to target a labeled frame. You'd do the same thing targeting another mc, on the main timeline. Thus from the menu mc:

on (press) {
_root.other_mc.gotoAndPlay("labeled_frame"
