global / local variable question

hey there...

i'd like define some global variables in my flash file, so i can access them from any movie symbol within the file.

where do i declare them?
and do i need to use any specific syntax (other than 'var')?

any tips or useful info on variables and passing them would be appreciated, thanks.

On the main timeline... Then get or set with...

_global.my_var = value;
