Does anyone know how/if one can update ALL of the links in a document (or series of documents) in some general way? E.g., changing alll directory paths from root/catalog/... to root/new/catalog/...

Lyn's right. Updating links to new locations if a manual task.
The only other option is to put all the linked files in the same folder as the PM file. PM looks there's if the existing link doesn't work.
