I am trying to set up a global command to use the outside interface.
i.e.
ip address outside 192.168.0.10 255.255.255.0
global (outside) 1 192.168.0.10 netmask 255.255.255.0
this reports errors, can anyone verify the correct commands?

I believe your outside interface must address to your public address space.

192.168.xxx.xxx is a non routable address space that will not go to the public Internet. "If you lived here, you'd be home by now!"

Try this...

global (outside) 1 interface

I think this is what you are trying to do.
