How do you import a text or csv file into Exchange 2000 's global address list. The address structure is completly different for 2000 compared to 5.5 and I need a way to import my 5.5 GAL.

UAU!!! that's not an easy one :)

You´ll have to use a Exchange 2000 tool called "CSVD", but first, you´ll need to change your "csv" file. Follow this steps:

1. Change field names from 5.5 to AD as follows:
Exchange 5.5 E2K
Obj-Class objectClass
Given-Name givenName
Initials initials
Surname sn
Display-Name displayName
Mail-nickname mailNickname
Address streetAddress
Locality-Name l
State-Or-Province-Name st
Postal-Code postalCode
Text-Country co
Title title
Company company
Department department
Office physicalDeliveryOfficeName
Telephone-Office1 telephoneNumber
Telephone-Office2 homePhone
Telephone-Fax facsimileTelephoneNumber
Comment description
E-mail address mail
Obj-Container DN * Note that we'll really delete Obj-Container column and add
the DN colum, as in step 4

2. change type to contact- in the first column, simply search and replace Remote with contact

3. Need to delete the Obj-Container column

4. You´ll have create a column called DN- you will merge 2 cells together using an Excel formula; set U2 = "cn= " &F2 &", <Your entire OU here>"; this determines the name of the contact object.

5. Change the email format of the mail field. In Exchange5.5 the address is:
SMTP:user@domain.com.
In Exchange 2000 the format is just user@domain.com
* You can simply do a find and replace on the column to remove the SMTP:
from each address.

Hope this helps
