Is any one else having trouble with unicam heads on singlemode glass or have any pointers? They work fine on 62.5, a little trickier on 50, but WTF with single? It takes a long time to get the light to turn green with a loss of index matching gel because of restrip; but eventually it’ll turn green. Then you go to test and it all fails. I went through 14 heads on a 6 stand; all failed so I’ve got anearobic coming tomorrow. This coming from someone that can do 1500 anearobic heads and rehead 3 and repolish 8 (not including that damned negative loss).

If you have the capability, why not just splice on pigtails? Since they already have the connectors installed and tested.

This isn't going to fix your problem, single mode is used mostly by the phone company and uses 1550 nm light, and is optized for bounce at that frequency... and used for miles of transmission.

Your short boxes use Multimode which can pass other colors, it will finally sync up at other colors, but fails when you stress the channel.

Re-terminating the ends won't help, you're pipe is bad, you're losing too much in transmission, replace the fiber with multimode...

just my $.02

Do you have an OTDR to test or evaluate the pipe?

Make sure if you use pigtails that the modes match, unless you know what you are doing to properly use a mismatch.
