Hello, i'm running Windows2000 Advanced Server with Citrix Metaframe 1.8
Because of various attempts to 'scout' the server, i'm increasing security.
As you might know, Citrix makes the Win2k server a full Terminal Server, which means, that the users use the same disk as the operating system.
To increase security i would like to change this. I crwated 2 partitions, one (the D: disk) holds the Winnt operating system. The C: drive should hold all user settings, and their homedir. On the C: I have a directorystructure like
C:\Users\User1
c:\Users\User2
..and so on
The only problem is, that the desktop/startmenu settings are still located at the winnt-disk (D:\Docs and Settings\User), i would like to see that Winnt uses a dir like c:\users\user1\docs and settings. Now, i've tried to fill in this dir at profiles, login script, homedir etc. But i can't seem to find it.
Is this possible, without the use of 'active directory'(The help seems to like 'Active Directory') or do i really need to start using this? Using 'set' commands (Set localpath=c:\users\user) in logon script doesn't seem to work either(because of 2000 handling of these things).
In short : The D: is for administrators only and contains WIN2000, the c: is also for admins only, with the exception of the users homedir (c:\users\user1), so all settings etc. must be placed there.
By the way -> Win2k does automatically copy this settings to this directory, but it doesn't use them. (copies to c:\users\user1, but uses d:\docs&settings)
If there are any futher questions, or anything is unclear, please let me know.
Ps. Users can also access the d:\docs & settings, is this because i need to give 'SYSTEM' access to the D: ?
