How can I give users read permissions to view a calendar but not edit it? I tried to go through the Exchange shell and use the Add-Mailbox Permission with -AccessRights Read Permission but that didnt work.

Any ideas?

The only way I know to do that is to get the user to change the permissions on the default group in calendar to reviewer.

Don't know how to do it any other way.
