Hello all,

I have a customer requesting that they be able to update some button programming such as speed dials and what not on their phones / button modules.

What is the best way to give the customer access without giving them the ability to change anything that may cause issues?

Thank you.

They are J179's

I went into the phones "Phone User" > "Self Administer" however these people are a bit special and that will be too complicated.

Is the "self-administration tool" you are referring to something different?

derfloh: I have never dabbled with giving the customer access to do some programming on their end.

Is the Self administration through Manager configuring a new user in security settings? Web Manager?

derfloh: Are you referring to self admin in the phone itself? If so, yes I did - that will not work for this client.

derfloh: kind of silly i have never done this, however can you explain a bit more. Where would one enable "Self Admin"

For now I just gave them access to the normal IPO Manager and gave them instructions on backing up and updating user right button programming - which should be fine however it would be nice to limit them as to not take down the PBX by some mistake.

Is this done in the security settings > Service Users?

Rights Group Membership: Customer Admin?

Since you've given Manager access I'm sure they can set up self-administration for themselves.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

In Manager:

Under each user's user tab make sure they have a password defined.

Under each user's Web Self-Administration tab check the box to enable it, then use the check boxes to (dis)allow permissions.

---
Each user can then:

In a web browser enter the IP address of the IPO.
Select IP Office Self Administration
Enter their IPO User Name and their password mentioned above
Change the settings you gave them permission for, which could include button programming.

Use web manager and just restrict the parts you don't want them to have access to.
