Hi

I need to give a user access to , so that they can check on the backup status when i'm hols

Problem is the user receives this message when accesing the page:

You do not have the correct permissions to view this page. For more information contact your system administrator.

To view this page, you must be a member of the Domain Admins security group.

Obviously I do not get this error.

How do I give permissions to a specific user to access the backup page?

Thanks

Have you checked the ACL of the actual directory where the backup file resides. You can create a group, add this user and add to the ACL

Not sure where the backup resides on active directory to add ACL/permissions, to do as you suggested.

Please advise where I can find this or is there another way?

thanks

You indicated that is the page that can only be viewed by Domain Admins. Where does the link physically point to the on the server? Once you find the folder, then go to it via explorer->right click on Properties->Security and look at the ACL. From there you can add the user (assuming you have the rights to do so)

Located the physical location of the directory c:\Inetpub\Backup and added user with full control permissions. Retstart his PC and tried again and same error.

Also added him to Usuage Report Users

What I don't understand is that everyone has access to , but only administrators can access . The permissions appear to be identical for both folders located under Inetpub

Please help

If you go into IIS mgr and check the folders associated to the website right click on the backup folder and select properties. Check Directory Security tab to see who is allowed access.

This web page, the reporting tool, I assume it has some script or logic to it to give you the results. It does say: "To view this page, you must be a member of the Domain Admins security group." It is possible that this is hardcoded to it, so file permissions on the directory with web page files might not be enough. Check the code of the page and see how it works. It might give you some clues, or check forums of the vendor of the backup software.

itsp1965 : When I go to Directory Security tab , I have 3 options ;

Authentication and access control

Ip address and domain name restrictions

secure communications

Non of which do not contain a function to add a user.

I did right click on backup folder (branched off the Default Web Site Tree) and clicked permissions, where the user appears with full control

Checked this before and didn;t work :(

Can someone try this on their server, incase something is wrong with mine?

I also had a quick look at the code, and could not find anything that could be restricting this.
