Gimp 2.2.3 unable to print

I've installed Gimp 2.2.3, running on Windows XP Home, with 256 RAM. I get an error message when trying to print to my HP Lasterjet 1012 - the memory could not be "read", plug-in crashed, winprint.exe. error. Is there a fix to this - a patch, another driver ?
