Hi,
I’ve a number of new 4507Rs I’m installing. I have 2 supervisor WS-X45-SUP6-E in each. Each Supervisor has two gigabit modules which take 2 SFPs each. I’m wondering can you use both gigabit modules in each sup when you have two supervisors in the chassis?

Thanks,

Paul

Hi again,
I have a sup in slot 3 and connected ports gig 3/3, 3/4 and 3/5 and 3/6 to another switch and the links came up.

When I put a second sup in the chassis ports gig 3/5 and gig 3/6 went down.

Is there a reason for this?

Because the second sup became the active and the one with the ports connected became the standby? What color are the "STATUS" lights on each sup?

Eirgo,

Can you run the following commands:
Code:
show module
show redundancy
show int gi3/3
show int gi3/4
show int gi3/5
show int gi3/6
One supervisor module will be in standby mode of course, however as far as I know that should not prevent communication on the gig ports.

I got it working!!!

Apparently the command:

hw-module uplink mode shared-backplane

allows all ports to be used simultaneously. Though it is not recommended as it does not guarantee 1 Gig per port on the backplane.

Thanks sop much for your interest and help.

Paul
