Gigabit Port not showing Errors

We were losing about 10% of our pings over a fibre link. Checked Gigabit interfaces, but all error counters were at zero. When we replaced the Gbic modules all pings were successful. Has anybody seen this before or know why it happens?

Yes, I've seen this before. I got around it by initially swapping the GBIC's, but eventually found that all I needed to do was re-seat the GBIC's. I think something happened to upset the GBIC's during the installation phase when fibers were being connected and disconnected for testing. Once they were power cycled the worked without error.

And I seem to recall there were no errors shown on the counters.
