What is required for a Gigabit network? Is CAT5 sufficient, or is CAT6 a necessary upgrade?

thanks, i saw this in another thread earlier. i guess the answer about cat5 would be yes..not that this article is very clear on that, but in addition to some other articles i've been reading.

Just to clarify, Cat5e should be the minimum used as the standards have pretty much dumped Cat5 for data use anymore.

Gigabit should do fine on 5e, we have a fair amount of it running on 5e. It is only my opinion, based on my experience and education...I am always willing to learn, educate me!
