Hey all,

Currently we are 10/100 across the board.
(2 Procurve 4000's connected via 10/100)

I want to put a J4115B in each of my Procurve 4000's to replace the current 10/100 link.
Then put gigabit cards in all of my servers and run them into a gigabit switch.
And lastly with one more J4115B, link the server switch into the procurves.

I am thinking that that would provide a stronger backbone for my network.

Thoughts?

Be excellent to each other

I did something similar to this. We have 3 10/100 switches. I bought a gig switch and ran our servers into it and my workstation. I have no benchmarks but it seems to offer better performance and we have some room to expand now.

By all means do it. When we expanded I poped a gig module into the 4000 and connected it to one of our new HP 48 port GB switches. The servers went into one of the new switch. The users on the 4000 reported that things felt snappier.
