gif resolution

I have all my gif resolutions set at 72 dpi. Couple questions...Will this work with pc window browsers? I thought maybe I should be setting it higher for pcs. Also, I want to create print-friendly pages, but 72 dpi graphics look pretty bad even on a laser printer. Any ideas?

Ok ... heres the deal with dpi. Yes that gif will display on a windows machine. Dpi is dots per inch as you probably know. According to polls most users use 800dpix600dpi on their desktop. So you usually wanna shoot for smaller then about 600 x 450 if you want the whole image to display at once on a persons screen. Increasing dpi alone will no increase the print size but it will increase the size of the image on the screen. If you have more questions just let me know =) I've worked alot with images.

Do you make all of your images 72dpi? And, do you ever change the dpi for graphics (i.e. pie charts) so that they print better on a laser printer? Thanks again.

yes
the higher the dpi the better it will look in print....for web graphics monitors only max out at 72dpi....also if you want better quality save as jpg rather than gif....remember if there are complex color changes and patterns save as jpg it will be smaller than gif...but rule of thumb 72dpi for web.....300dpi for professional print
