Ok, got no hits in the Enterprise level desktop forum, so I'll try it out here.

Here's the deal, I have inherited a K-12 network that uses Ghost for imaging. Well what the techs and previous manager failed to do was run ghostwalk or newsid to change the pc's sid before joining the windows domain. The techs started to complaining of problems (go figure) with all of a sudden losing communication from the pc to the server; disjoining and rejoining seems to fix for a while. So the question of the day is, I have about 400 pc's that have been added to the domain already, can I run either ghostwalk or newsid on those currently, or for this to really work, do I need to disjoin first?

I have other school sites that luckily have not been joined yet were imaged and ghostwalk/newsid never run (still on Novell at those sites).

Can I perform this task automatically through some login script?

Any help would be appreicated.

Its my understanding this really shouldnt be a problem unless you use local(nondomain) accounts on the pc's. Once the pc is joined to the domain the machine gets a domain sid and the domain users have domain sids. But... at the local pc level every pc has the same local sid and they all will increment the same. Meaning, if you create a local user on pc1 that user has a sid of xxyyxxzz, you then create a different local user on pc2 that user will also have a sid of xxyyxxzz which will create access issues with each other. Kind of long winded but my point is if the pc's are all domain pc's it should be ok. I am sure someone will correct me if im wrong.
