hey there,

i made an image of a partition from my computer. so i could put that image on another computer using norton ghost. The image was put on fine by norton, however once i restarted the computer windows wouldn't load. i get a "boot failure from previous device" and then saying that the boot file could not be found
i tried switching the boot squences in my bios. and i tried replacing the boot.ini in the C: drive partition....and still got the same error.

i don't know if this helps, but the computer i created the image from is different from the computer i installed the image on. im not sure if the computers have to be the same to install the image correctly.

any suggestion?

Well there you go then!
This OS installation was configured on a completely differant setup, components and their drivers have changed, it is entirely understandable therefore why the new setup won't boot.

If you do get it to work (a repair reinstall would probably do it - but that takes as long as an install - though you do get to keep all the data, apps & settings), XP can only be loaded on one machine - so you'll not be able to activate it on the second machine (unless you buy a second licence of course).

thanks for the help,

i got it work.
