My goal is to ghost a hard drive from one computer that will be put into a different computer.

I'm using Ghost 8.0 on a Compaq Evo D510 SMF.

The "source" is the Primary IDE Master hard drive which contains an image file.

The destination hard drive is on the Secondary IDE as Master.

I'm booting my compaq with the Ghost 8.0 boot floppy.

After I ghost "Disk from Image", I take the destination drive out of my Compaq, and place it in the new computer.

The destination drive is not bootable at all, but all the files seem to be on it.

However, when I Ghost by Multicast over the network, the image and the drive works great. So, the problem is not with the image. It's not a problem with the hard drive, and it's not a problem with the destination computer.

Does anyone know the fix for this issue?

Also, may have lost its boot sector in the restore (have seen that before) - so depending on o/s, would need to restore it (fixboot X: in recovery console for 2k/XP/2k3 - where X: is drive letter - presumably C: or sys C: for win9x/ME from boot floppy).

Whay OS? If WindowsXP, you can't move a hard drive from comp to comp.
