I'm looking to image a workstation with roughly 3.5 gig of OS and apps - how do i compress it to enable it to fit onto a single CD - am looking for around 20 to 25% of original size after compressions, however s far as i'm aware ghost will only compress to about 70% of original size, do i need to use a third party tool, and if so, how do i uncompress.

Check the switches for Ghost and you can tell it to split the files into parts. For example, the standard Ghost will automatically split the ghost file into 2 Gig parts. You can tell it to split it up into 700 Megs (CD size for example) and then you can burn the image files onto several CD's.

For 3.5gigs, it should roughly compress it to half, so 1.7Gigs. It will take 3 CD's to burn the entire ghost. It will split your files with three different filenames:

DAVE.GHO (700Megs), DAV001.GHS(700Megs), DAV002.GHS (the rest roughly 250M). Just burn each file onto a seperate CD.
