faq250-56
I was looking at this faq and need some help. I do not know much about CGI. But I just probably need to put the script on the server and my Flash page, then that is it right? Can someone explain what's going on? I looked at the zip file at above FAQ but do not understand how it works. Just need to make a simple page that has fields to fill in, name, account info, questions, etc that needs to be sent to an e-mail acct each time the web form is completed. Anyone? Thank you.

hi nat

I wouldn't recommend this tutorial at all. Any version of Formail below version 1.9 has a bug which allows people to spam from Formmail enabled webpages, which may result in recipient servers blocking anything from your own server. Your hosts won't be happy, the person receiveing the email won't be happy and you won't be happy.

see: for more information.

If you can use PHP I would recommend faq250-486 if it's something simple your after.

If you can't use PHP and still want to use CGI/Formmail, what was the problem with the above (obviously you'd have to download the latest Formmail script)? The CGI has helpful notes (albeit don't 'have' to know what 95% of it actually does). The flash dynamic text fields are basicaly passed to the CGI file for processing when the user hits the 'send' button using a getURL action.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I am thinking about using Hostway @ hostway.com to host the site. The site is really simple, but now need to add this page to help clients. They support PHP, so I will check the above FAQ, tried to print it earlier so i could read over it but ran out of ink, going to read it now. Any other info will also be greatly appreciated.
